Lavada was born on February 19, 1921, in Buncombe, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edward and Vinnie (Hocking) Kittoe. She married her loving husband Joseph Brunskill on September 12, 1966, and spent her life working on the farm side by side in Shullsburg. Her husband preceded her in death on June 23, 1984. She worked at Atwoods Mfg. in Stockton, IL, retiring in 1984. Lavada was a true blessing to her family and friends with the softest, most compassionate heart. She may have been a small woman but had the heart of a giant. Her life was family and she gave body and soul to her family. Surviving include her grandchildren, Julie (Lloy) Clough and Robert (Rose) Harris, both of Benton, WI, Laura (Todd) Harris-Koeller of Dubuque, IA, and Lynne (Tim) Harris-Walton of Verona, WI; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Harris Callan, of Benton; two step-daughters, Shirley (David) Wilberding, of Mt. Horeb, WI, and Jeanne (Stan) Turpin, of Galena, IL; two step-sons, Joe (Mary Alyce) Brunskill, of Dubuque, IA and Dave (Marty) Brunskill, of Shullsburg, WI.; 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Adda Gehart of Shullsburg, WI. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; her only child, Robert Vincent Harris on June 8, 1994, and a granddaughter, Ruth Ann “Boo Boo” Harris on February 4, 1990.
