Platteville, Wisconsin LaVern F. Hill, 95, of Platteville, Wisconsin passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, June 5, 2017 at The Atrium Health & Senior Living Center in Lancaster, Wisconsin. To honor Vern's life, visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. at the Casey Funeral Home in Cuba City, where a memorial service will be at 7 p.m., with Bruce Bennett officiating. A private burial service will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster, Wisconsin with Military honors on Thursday, June 8, 2017. LaVern is survived by his son Alan (Toni) Hill and their family. He is also survived by his beloved extended family, children of Elsie Helbing Hill, especially Dan (Mary) Helbing and their family. Also the children of Alice Vance Hill and their families. He is also survived by two brothers, Virgil and Jim, and two sisters, Ruth (Bill) Mezera, and Irma Kirschbaum. Vern was born on July 13, 1921 and served in the army during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5274. He was a very kind and loving person, considered a gentleman by everyone who came in contact with him. He was always quick with a smile. People who knew him best described him as special. He was always seen with his four legged companion, Teddy. The family would like to thank the hospital staff at Southwest Hospital in Platteville, the nurses of the Atrium Living Center, and the nurses from Grant County Hospice,
