Lawrence M. Kieler

Dickeyville, Wisconsin Lawrence M. Kieler, 89, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, died Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Manor Care in Platteville. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2015, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 3:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9-9:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home before the service. Lawrence was born on March 13, 1926, in Kieler, Wisconsin, the son of George and Mary (Kunkel) Kieler. He married Ruth Kerkenbush on February 14, 1953, at St. Andrew's Church in Tennyson, Wisconsin. Lawrence had a strong love and respect for the land, during his many years of farming and livestock production. He always referred to himself as a plain and simple farmer. He enjoyed fishing and turkey hunting. Lawrence was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5274 in Platteville. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Platteville; five daughters, Jean (Gerry) Tauke, and Cathy (Dennis) Pregler, both of Dubuque, Rose (Kevin) Silveira, of Madison, Shirley (Bill) Buss, of Platteville, and Donna Kieler, of Madison; three sons, Louis (Ann) Kieler, and George (Jackie) Kieler, both of Platteville, and Ray (friend Maria) Kieler, of Verona; three sisters, Louise Kieler, of Dubuque, Sylvia Wedig, of Belmont, and Sister Angeline Kieler, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine Loeffelholz and Elizabeth Van De Wiel; and his brothers Edward and Joseph. The family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care.
