Linda L. Brown

May 14, 1962 — December 17, 2023

Cuba City, Wisconsin

“Mom, Laurie and Jamie – Thank you for allowing me to be an organ donor as I requested before I go to meet Dad and Donnie.”

Linda L. Brown, 61, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at UW Hospital, Madison, due to complications from a fall on December 11, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Church Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 9 – 11:45 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Linda was born on May 14, 1962, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Donnie and Joan (Udelhofen) Brown. She graduated from Cuba City High School in 1980 where she was a four year varsity basketball player. It was a game she loved and she managed to help break a few records during her career.

After graduation, Linda earned her CNA license, a job at which she excelled for almost 39 years. She loved every day she spent caring for the elderly and treated all of her residents with the utmost respect. They loved her for that, as did their families who often thanked her. After retiring due to severe arthritis and other ailments, Linda missed her work so much that she tried doing anything she could to help people when she moved to the elderly/handicapped apartments, even if it just meant giving them some attention. She has now continued to help more people through organ donation, offering many the chance to have a better and longer life.

Linda enjoyed watching the Packers, Bucks and Badgers; bingo at the apartments; a good game of euchre; visiting with friends; and being entertained by her great-nieces and great-nephews. Linda will always be loved and missed by many, from kids to the elderly.

Linda is survived by her mother, Joan; big brother, Jim; her sister, Laurie; her nieces, Jamie (Seth) Herro (who Linda dearly loved), Samantha Brown, Trinity Brown and her special niece, Sadie Brown (“I love you, Linda”); her great-nephews, Ashton Herro and Cooper Brown; her great-niece, Quinn Herro; her sister-in-law, Tina Brown; her aunts, Joyce Farrey and Sr. Mary Jean Ryan; and many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donnie, on March 17, 2001; her younger brother, Donnie (“Squirt” to her) on September 26, 2018; her grandparents, “Sank” and Jean Udelhofen, and “Buster” and Thelma Brown; uncles, Sonny Farrey and Richie Udelhofen; aunt, Sue Udelhofen; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, a Linda L. Brown Memorial Fund has been established. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.

The family wishes to thank the Cuba City Police Department; Southwest Health Rescue Squad; Cuba City Fire Department; Christy Willis, P.A. and her nurse, Samantha; UW Med Flight; all the staff at UW Hospital for their care and thoughtfulness toward Linda and her family; Mindy and “Mom”(managers at Cuba City Apartments); and all her friends and her family’s friends for their condolences.
