Loren A. Hammer

Loren A. Hammer, 96, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City with Pastor Bill Vasey officiating. Burial will be in Hazel Green Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11-12:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. If you are so inclined, wear your best John Deere attire to honor Loren.

Loren was born on October 30, 1927, in Jo Daviess County, Illinois to Alvin and Mabel (Bohnsack) Hammer. He married Hazel Richardson on September 17, 1949. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2002.

Loren loved everything about farming. He had a special love for his John Deere tractors, implements and gators. He was a master “puddler”, tinkering around the farm and fixing all kinds of equipment. In his younger years, Loren played the accordion. He enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre. Loren loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved his many dogs, including his most recent companion, Roczie.

Loren is survived by a daughter, Barb Hammer, Cuba City; a son, Barry (Teresa) Hammer, Cassville, WI; a grandson, Colton Hammer; his adopted granddaughter, Carrie Zittlow; and his adopted great-granddaughters, Keira and Kaiya.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Viola, Evelyn and Alta; and two brothers, Wilbur and Laverne.
