Loren E. Rodas

Hazel Green, Wisconsin Loren E. Rodas, 70, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, died Sunday, September 1, 2013, at home. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Hazel Green with Rev. Kenneth Frisch officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church before the service. Loren was born on September 18, 1942, in rural Edgewood, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Lyla (Ruroden) Rodas. Loren worked in the auto body and towing business for more than 30 years before pursuing his passion for restoring antique furniture. He was well-known for his beautifully restored trunks which can be found in homes throughout the United States. He met Nancy, the girl of his dreams, at a St. Patrick's Day dance in Guttenberg, IA. They married a year later and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner. Loren enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He took great pride in raising his two daughters on the Mississippi River. He was very proud of his three grandsons and loved spending time with them, often sending them home with special treasures and "Beba Bucks." Loren's family will cherish special memories of fun vacations on the Mississippi, "up north," Florida and Texas, and most recently his and Nancy's trips to Arizona and the Gulf Coast. Survivors include his wife; Nancy; two daughters, Brenda (Troy) Middendorf, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, and Darci (Dale) Middaugh, of Sussex, Wisconsin; three grandsons, Ryan Redfearn, Morgan and Mason Middaugh; a brother, Dwight (Janis) Rodas, of Edgewood, Iowa; a former son-in-law, Terry Redfearn, of Hazel Green; a brother-in-law, Leon (Donalle) Rodas, of Spencer, Iowa; nieces, nephews; and Chaz, his charming little dog and constant companion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lyla Rodas, and his parents-in-law, Alto and Helen Rodas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hazel Green Rescue Squad or the American Cancer Society.
