Loretta was born on August 19, 1921, in Little Grant Township, Wisconsin, the daughter of John J. and Rose (Wunderlin) Reuter. She married Emil E. Miesen on January 14, 1941. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2009. Together they farmed near Dickeyville. Loretta was a member of Holy Ghost Parish all of her married life and the Council of Catholic Women. She joined the Catholic Order of Foresters Court #228 in 1948 and received a golden anniversary rosary. Loretta enjoyed Friday night fish suppers, Sunday night dancing, and gardening, especially growing potatoes. When Emil and Loretta were on trips and would stop for a rest stop, mom would love to drop a quarter in slot machines and usually she was pretty lucky. Some of her famous baking specialties were three leaf clover biscuits and buns for the holidays, cinnamon rolls and angel food cake. She really enjoyed seeing the little ones, first her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren who called her "Grandma Jelly Bean." Survivors include three daughters, Marietta (Jerry) Pitzen, of Cuba City, Charlotte (Jim) Kowalski, of Dickeyville, and Cathy (Richard) Wagner, of Cuba City; three sons, Francis (Dorothy) Miesen, of Potosi, Larry (Ann) Miesen, of Dickeyville, and Maynard (Rita) Miesen, of Platteville; four sisters, Dorothy (Herb) Klein, Velma (Leonard) Melssen, and Rosemary Reuter, all of Platteville, and Anna (Gene) Stelpflug, of Dickeyville; a brother, John (Rose Marie) Reuter Jr, of Platteville; a sister-in-law, Loretta Reuter, of Platteville; a brother-in-law, Harold "Harry" Miesen, of Dubuque; 23 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose Reuter; two sisters, Matilda Reuter and Wilma Fuerstenberg; two brothers, Clinton and Clifford Reuter; an infant great-grandson, Dominic Pitzen; and her in-laws, Joe Fuerstenberg, Janice Miesen, Ray and Irene Digmann, and Joe and Bertha Loeffelholz.
