Margaret M. Welter

Dickeyville, Wisconsin Margaret M. Welter, 88, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Kieler. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 8:45-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home before the service. Margaret was born on September 9, 1929, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Richard) Freese. She married Norbert A. Welter on September 22, 1953, at St. Joseph's Church in Sinsinawa. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2004. Together they farmed near Kieler until moving to Dickeyville. Margaret enjoyed time spent with her family and grandchildren. She volunteered at the Brickl Memorial Library and Grant County Holiday Project. Survivors include three daughters, Betty (Dave) Neuhaus, and Barb (Tim) Schmidt, both of Dubuque, and Janet (Jim Zart) Blindert, of Fennimore; three sons, Jerry (Donna) Welter, of Dubuque, Ken (Sherry) Welter, of Dickeyville, and Tom Welter, of Cuba City; four sisters-in-law, Harriet Freese, of Dickeyville, Rowetta Freese, of Hazel Green, Rose (Norbert) Vaassen, of Dickeyville, and Jeanette (Paul) Casel, of Dubuque; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael; a grandson, Brad Welter; two great-grandsons, Connor Smith and Gabriel Smith; two brothers, Joseph and Francis Freese; her parents, Henry and Marie Freese; and her father and mother-in-law, Oscar and Cecilia Welter. A Margaret M. Welter Memorial Fund has been established. A special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque and everyone who was there for Margaret.
