Racine, Wisconsin Margery B. Mullikin, 97, of Racine, Wisconsin, formerly of Leadmine, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at St. Monica's Senior Living in Racine. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Benton with Bob Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Leadmine Primitive Methodist Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church before the service. Margery was born March 1, 1921, in Townsville, Australia. She was the middle daughter of Thomas and Amelia (Wells) DeLeacy. Following her graduation from high school in 1937, she worked for Richards and Timmons Grocers, in Townsville, Australia. During World War II she met and married an American serviceman, Basil Frank Mullikin. They were married on November 14, 1944, in Townsville, Australia. Margery sailed from Brisbane, Australia, in February of 1946, along with three thousand other Australian “War Brides” to join their husbands in the United States. In February of 1946, she arrived in America, settling in Leadmine, Wisconsin, where she and Frank lived and farmed from 1946 until 1997, when he passed away. She continued to live on the family farm until 2011 when she moved to Racine, Wisconsin. Margery was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church. She was also a member of a Benton ladies social group. She enjoyed reading, quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed family gatherings of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She visited with her family members in Australia on three separate occasions. Survivors include her children: David (Sue), of Hartland, Gregory (Brenda) of Shullsburg, Myles (Karen), of Racine, Morgan (Susan), of Waukesha, Aleta, of Platteville, Mark (Lucy), of Madison and Valerie (David) of Colorado. She is also survived by one sister, Joan DeLeacy of Brisbane, Australia; nineteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Margery was preceded in death by her husband Frank; two sisters, Bess and Bell; and three brothers, Reginald, Arthur "Mick" and Morgan. A Margery B. Mullikin Memorial Fund has been established.
