Benton, Wisconsin Marguerite R. Hoppenjan, 94, of Benton, Wisconsin, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Benton with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Benton is in charge of arrangements. Marguerite was born on June 6, 1922, on the family farm in New Diggings Township, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Leglar) Hoppenjan. She worked as a teller at the Benton State Bank. Marguerite was known as a local seamstress and for her baking skills, especially muffins, sugar cookies and frosted molasses cookies. She was a gentle, kind hearted woman who never said a bad word. Survivors include her sister, Mary (Hoppenjan) Schenkat, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gertrude (Hoppenjan) McCabe; two brothers, Francis and Bernard Hoppenjan; two sisters-in-law, Jane and Romona Hoppenjan; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond McCabe and Evan Schenkat. A special thank you to Dr. Connolly for his care over the past years. Thank you also to the staff of Epione Pavilion for compassionate care during the past few weeks.
