Marilyn Jean Mulligan

August 5, 1960 — March 26, 2018

Dubuque, Iowa Marilyn J. K. Mulligan, 57, of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Cuba City, passed away peacefully Monday, March 26, 2018, at Ennoble Manor in Dubuque. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan and Deacon Bill Bussan officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque. Friends may call from 9:00-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Marilyn was born on August 5, 1960, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Mary (Franz) Kennicker. She married Pat Mulligan on August 19, 1995. Their daughter Shannon was born in 1997. After graduating from Southwestern Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore in mechanical drafting, Marilyn worked at the Beloit Corporation for 18 years, in various positions within the drafting, engineering support, and marketing departments. She travelled to Europe on several occasions with her job functions, visiting countries such as Sweden, Italy, and Canada, where she met her husband Patrick. She then moved back to Dubuque, where she worked at the McGraw Hill Company as a sales associate and most recently at Medical Associates as a medical clerk. Marilyn’s artistic talents were well known by her family and friends. Over the years, Marilyn was involved in many art related projects. Most notably, she completed a mural in the St. Joseph Church, Sinsinawa, WI, and worked on many smaller projects that showcased her skill in illustration and painting. She enjoyed gardening, be it at her home decorating the house, or at her parents’ farm in Georgetown, WI. Often, she would be taking care of the farm cats and spoiling the family dog with treats stashed in her stylish green Camry. Her love for animals was always evident, whether the animals were cats, dogs, pigs or cows. She was very much involved with her family and the go-to person when things needed to be done. Her care for her parents as they grew older helped keep the family farm running smoothly. Everyone in Marilyn’s presence was given her full love and attention, no birthday or anniversary ever forgotten. Marilyn will be dearly missed, as she was integral to so many aspects of her family and friends’ lives. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Patrick; daughter, Shannon; father, Marvin Kennicker; brothers, James, John, Joey (Amy Baus), Jeffery (Sue Steinhoff); and many other loving relatives and dear friends in the Beloit and Dubuque areas. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Kennicker. The family would like to thank the University of Iowa Hospital, the Hope Lodge, Finley Hospital, Finley Homecare, St. Luke’s Hospital, Manor Care and Hospice of Dubuque for their exemplary support during Marilyn’s illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Marilyn’s name to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics or Hope Lodge in Iowa City.
