Cuba City, Wisconsin Marilyn Svoboda, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, passed on November 17, 2015, as her Grandma, her angel in heaven, passed her on to our Lord and Mother Mary. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service. Marilyn (Schiwinger) Svoboda was born on January 12, 1934, to Joseph and Magdalene (Lasar) Schiwinger in Chicago, Ill. Marilyn graduated in 1952 from Alverna High School. She attended Wright Jr. College while working for The American Medical Association. Marilyn met Roger Svoboda on a blind date on January 19, 1954. They were married on October 30, 1954. Their union produced four loving and caring daughters and one son. Marilyn was a stay at home mother caring for her wonderful children whom she dearly loved. She loved cooking, baking, helping with the high school flag corp, sewing and doing crafts. Her crafts were sold at shows and given to many as gifts. She also taught religious education. Marilyn was a caretaker for her daughter, son and mother when they became ill. Marilyn worked for the Cuba City Hospital and Nursing Home as a cook for 10 years. She was a nanny for two wonderful families. Marilyn worked for many companies doing demos and merchandising. Her last job was for Piggly Wiggly in Galena for 6 1/2 years. Marilyn took care of her husband, Roger, for many years; then he took care of her when she became ill. They celebrated 61 years of marriage in 2015. Those left to honor Marilyn's memory are her most wonderful husband, Roger; her daughers, Marla (Jack) Laudenslager, Lisa (Donnie) Haverland, Kara (Eldon) Turner and Andrea (Steve) Staver; and six grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Laudenslager, Jaclyn (Erik) Rupp, Allison (Tom) Leitzinger and Melissa (Russell) Gudex and Sara Turner. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph (Virginia) Schiwinger; and two sisters-in-law, Arlene (Donny) Phelan and Catherine Svoboda. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Roger Svoboda; and two grandsons, Timothy and Christopher Haverland. The family wishes no flowers. A Marilyn Svoboda Memorial Fund has been set up.
