He married Joyce Marie Segerstrom on February 15, 1975, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City. Mark voluntarily joined the Army during the Vietnam Era where he escorted the remains and notified families of their son's death and was a supervisor of basic training at Ft. Leonardwood in Missouri. He retired as a 1st Lieutenant. After the service he was a manager of a Ground Round Restaurant, which is a division of Howard Johnsons. Currently Mark owned and operated JetSpeed Sports, Inc. He enjoyed keeping his journey interesting by owning and managing multiple businesses. Mark was an independent, creative and resourceful person who was dedicated to his family. He was Joyce's rock. Everyone who met him liked him and if you needed anything fixed, you would call Mark. He was a great cook, never liked to fly, and was big on family history. Mark wanted to always keep family together for even a simple trip to the grocery store. He always wanted to be the one with the most information. Most people march to a beat of the drum, but Mark marched to his own drum. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Melissa Joy (Tom) Galbo, of Tarpon Springs, Florida; a son, Matthew James Wedig, of Palm Harbor, Florida; four sisters, Kay (Bill) Kessler and Gloria Houtakker, both of Cuba City, Margo Lovell, of Hazel Green, and Dianne Kester, of Madison, Wisconsin; two brothers, Kenneth (Joann) Wedig, of Davenport, Iowa, and Charles (Mary) Wedig, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his mother-in-law, Florence Segerstrom, of Cuba City; and two grandchildren, Brooke Gaukel-Wedig and Haley Galbo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Wedig.
