Marshall was born on December 28, 1927, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of George “Judd” and Isabel (Harker) McNett. He married his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Landon, 63 years ago. Marshall graduated from Platteville High School in 1946. He farmed his entire life on the family farm (a Century Farm) near Elmo, before semi retiring to a new home in Cuba City in 1993. Marshall spent a number of years on the Swiss Valley Advisory Board, and served as a member of the Elk Grove Town Board. He was a member of the Cuba City School Board for eight years. Marshall has been an active member of the Cuba City Lions Club since 1973, serving as president and on many committees. He earned the Lions Lifetime Achievement Award as well as the Melvin Jones Award. He enjoyed traveling and winters in Florida for a number of years, as well as playing cards and dancing in earlier days. Marshall was always available to help those in need, he could fix anything, and no challenge was too big. His “shop” and many hobbies (remodeling food trailer, grills, van conversions, electrical and mechanical work) have provided aid to many neighbors and local residents. Most importantly, he was respected and loved by his family and many friends for all of his wisdom and guidance which he has given in so many ways. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; four daughters, Jane (Bob Emmerich) McNett-Emmerich, of Madison, Wisconsin, Lou Ann Nystrom, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Mary Jo (Barry) Graham, of Eagan, Minnesota, and Wendy (Mark) Newburg, of Madison, Wisconsin; two sons, Michael J. (JoAnn) McNett, of Cuba City, and Marc A. (Mary) McNett, of Edgerton, Wisconsin; a brother, Ronald McNett, of St. Petersburg, Florida; fourteen grandchildren, Camron (Beth) Nystrom, Matthew McNett, Nicole (Ryan) Wilson, Missy (Chris) Casey, Taylor Graham, Drew Nystrom, Emily Graham, Cory Newburg, Mitchell McNett, Brittany McNett-Emmerich, Tommy McNett, Nick Newburg, Megan McNett, and Molly McNett; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank Dr. Connelly, Southwest Health Center Hospice, and Homeward Bound Health Services for their assistance. A Marshall McNett Memorial Fund has been established.
