Dickeyville, Wisconsin Mary Corinne Moravec, 78, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at home. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville with Rev. Bernie Rott and Rev. Tom McAndrew as co-celebrants. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Casey Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Cuba City where the rosary will be said at 2:45 p.m. Mary Corinne was born on November 22, 1932, in Dubuque Iowa, the daughter of James and Margaret (Devaney) Casey. She married Harold Moravec on May 15, 1954, at St. Raphael’s Cathedral in Dubuque, Iowa. Mary Corinne graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy where she developed a strong sense of civic responsibility and served as senior class president. She and Harold moved to Dickeyville in 1959. Her sense of civic duty continued as she served as the Dickeyville Village Clerk/Treasurer for 21 years, mayor for 2 years, a member of the Holy Ghost School Board, and a member of the Governor’s Waterway Commission. In addition to her leadership abilities, Mary Corinne was also a talented writer. She wrote poetry, short stories, a novel, and contributed many articles in Julien’s Journal. Mary Corinne loved all small children, especially her grandchildren and was very active in the lives of her children. She instilled in them a sense of pride for her Irish heritage and visited Ireland with some of her family. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Harold; daughter, Marna (Rick) Bulman of Watertown, WI; daughter, Monica Moravec (Ken Madden) of Seattle, WA; son, Jimmy Moravec, of Dickeyville; daughter Mary (Kurt) Statz of Lodi, WI; and son, Michael (Connie) Moravec, of Bloomfield, NM; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret (Devaney) Casey and three brothers, James, Edmund and Vernon Casey.
