Mary was born on January 17, 1943, in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ervin and Pauline (Droessler) Schroeder. Mary graduated from Cuba City High School in 1961 and then attended beauty school. She worked as a beautician until she and Tom started their family. She then was known as the family beautician as she cut hair for her sisters, brothers, in-laws and probably every niece and nephew for many years to come. She was a homemaker for many years raising their five children. Later she worked in retail at Armstrong's and then Medical Associates as a courier where she retired in 2008. Mary loved to bake and was well known for all the goodies she made. If there weren't fresh cookies on the counter, she always had a bag full in the freezer, just ready to be warmed up in the microwave. Her favorites moments were spending time with family, especially her seven grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Tom, of Dubuque; two daughters, Tammy (Bill) McDermott, of Swisher, IA, and Sue (Lee) Klein, of Sherrill, IA; two sons, Todd (Stacey) Kaiser, of Dubuque, IA, and Thomas J. Kaiser, of Valpraiso, IN; six sisters, Sister Deanna Schroeder, of Milwaukee, WI, Jeri Lyons and Susan (Don) Barth, both of Cuba City, WI; Ruth (Tom) Kieler and Rose (Doug) Rouse, both of Platteville, WI, and Shirley (Lee) Millman, of Potosi, WI; three brothers, Steve (Mara) Schroeder, of Dickeyville, WI, Tom (friend, Gail Fritschler) Schroeder, of Eau Claire, WI, and Joseph (Donna) Schroeder, of Cuba City, WI; two sisters-in-law, Michelle Schroeder, of Cuba City, WI and Delia Schroeder, of Dickeyville, WI; seven grandchildren, Matthew & Mitchell McDermott, Kody & Lexi Kaiser, Sydney Klein, Holden & Piper Kaiser; and one great-granddaughter, Remington McDermott. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeff; a brother, Eugene "Gene" Schroeder; a sister, Judy Riniker; a sister-in-law, Marsha Schroeder; two brothers-in-law, Mike Lyons and Walter Riniker; and a nephew, Eric Lyons. A Mary D. Kaiser Memorial Fund has been established. Memorials may be sent to 5120 Saratoga Road, Dubuque, IA 52002. A special thanks to the staff of the Memory Care Unit at Luther Manor.
