Mary Eileen Fiedler

May 15, 1918 — July 1, 2008

Mary Eileen was born on May 15, 1918 in Seymour Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Hugh and Julia (Boyle) O’Neill. She graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1936. Mary Eileen married Clair Fiedler of Cuba City at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Benton on November 17, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1982. They lived in the Cuba City area most of their lives and raised three children there. Clair, his brother and father ran the Sentry (IGA) Food Store in Cuba City for many years. Clair and Mary owned the Village Bar in Kieler from 1966-1976. Mary was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America since 1943; as well as a member of St. Rose Altar Society, serving as president for two years. Survivors include a son, Jim (Vicki) Fiedler, of Houston, TX; a daughter, Julie (George) Kamperschroer, of Madison, WI; a son-in-law, John Foster, of Dubuque, IA; four grandchildren, Bryan Ricke, of Austin, TX, Jeff, Robert and Anna Kamperschroer, all of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Peg Wilson, of Benton, WI, and Lorna (George) Burns, of Shullsburg, WI; a brother-in-law, Richard Lundberg, of Chicago, IL; a goddaughter, Lori Burns, of Denver, CO; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her mother and dad; her sisters, Minerva O’Neill and Therese Morrissey; a brother, Charles O’Neill; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine O’Neill, Pat Lundberg and Betsy Fiedler; and three brothers-in-law, Dale Morrissey, Boyd Wilson and Myron Fiedler. She also lost her dear daughter, Sandy Foster, after a year-long battle with cancer in July 1999. For the compassionate care given Mom, special thanks to the nurses at Mercy Medical Center.
