Leadmine, Wisconsin Melvin F. “Mel” Kisting, 78, of Leadmine, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Southwest Health Center in Cuba City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011, at St. Patrick’s Church in Benton with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the scripture service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9-10 Friday at the church before the service. Mel was born on June 3, 1933, in Leadmine, Wisconsin, the son of Leo and Marie (Sheffer) Kisting. He married Marcella Harty on April 30, 1960. They were blessed with fifty-one years of married life. Mel and Marcy were avid square dancers and belonged to the Pistols and Petticoats Square Dancing Club. Mel farmed and worked at the Dubuque Pack. He was also an original Benton Saddle Club member. Mel enjoyed farming and gardening. He loved growing and picking berries, and he was especially proud of his pumpkin patch. His family was his greatest love. He was the hero of his children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Marcy, of Leadmine, Wisconsin; three daughters, Janice Kisting, of Platteville, Wisconsin, Kathryn (Jack) Miller, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, and Sandra (Mark) Brant, of Leadmine, Wisconsin; two sons, Gary (Nancy) Kisting, of Leadmine, Wisconsin, and Rick (Jill) Kisting, of Verona, Wisconsin; three sisters, Lorraine Lee, of Benton, Wisconsin, Leola (Bob) Schmitt, of Dubuque, Iowa, and Joann (Jude) Ubersox, of Shullsburg, Wisconsin; a brother, Lawrence (Ann) Kisting, of Janesville, Wisconsin; fifteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Randy Kisting, on May 5, 1969; a brother, Paul Kisting; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Lee. A Melvin F. “Mel” Kisting Memorial Fund has been established.
