Potosi, Wisconsin Michael A. "Mike" Hanfeld, 47, of Potosi, Wisconsin, died Monday, July 16, 2018, at UW-Hospital in Madison as the result of a sudden accident. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler with Rev. Bernard Rott and Rev. Richard Leffler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center where the parish wake service will be at 1:45 p.m. Friends may also call at the parish center from 9:00-10:15 a.m. Saturday before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Mike was born on February 20, 1971, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Norm and Mary Jean (Brandt) Hanfeld. He married Tracy M. Westerlund on September 30, 2000, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler. Mike was a captain at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections in Boscobel, Wisconsin. Mike loved camping, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He enjoyed music and was a Chicago Bears fan. Mike was a wonderful cook and often cooked for large groups. A hard worker, he was kind, generous and always on the go. Mike had the heart of his mother and two grandmothers and the strength and determination of his father and two grandfathers. He spent the last 21 years putting Tracy on a pedestal. Mike lived to make her the happiest wife in the world. Survivors include his wife, Tracy, of Potosi; two daughters, Meagan (Steve) Caron, of Winona, MN, and Abigail (Austin) Chute, of Marion, IA; a son, Blake Matthew, of Potosi; his parents, Norm and Mary Jean Hanfeld, of Kieler; a brother, Tony (Leslie) Hanfeld, of Monona, WI; two grandchildren, Raena Helen Chute and Emrys Caron who is on the way; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Linda Westerlund, of Moline, IL; a brother-in-law, Todd (Shelley) Westerlund, of Cordova, IL; a sister-in-law, Tamara (Lee) Ahern, of Racine, WI; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Elaine Brandt and Alfred and Clara Hanfeld, and several uncles. In lieu of flowers a Michael A. "Mike" Hanfeld Memorial Fund has been established.
