Michael F. “Mike” Parks, 72, of Cuba City Wisconsin, passed away at UW-Madison Hospital, on May 23, 2024. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 22, at 1 pm, at Eagle Point Park, in Dubuque, Iowa. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.
Mike was born on June 15, 1951, in Charles City, Iowa. He was raised by his grandparents Frank and Laura Parks. He was a dedicated speech pathologist, and served with compassion at Shullsburg School District and working for Grant County, leaving a mark on countless lives through his commitment to communication and understanding. His passion for history was brought to life in his participation in Civil War reenactments. A true history buff, Mike’s love for the past was also reflected in his membership with the Yellowstone Flint & Cap Club, where he shared his expertise with black powder rifles – a testament to his appreciation for historical practices. Mike found solace in his collection of historical swords and rifles, each piece was a cherished narrative of a previous time for him. His legacy is one of educational impact, historical reverence and an adventurous spirit that will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mike is survived by his two children, Daniel Parks, of Dubuque, Iowa, and Jessica Johnson, of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin; a sister Becky Mueller, of Evansdale, IA; a granddaughter, Josephine Tomlinson, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; and a sister Cindy Rabbit.
In lieu of flowers, a Mike F. Parks Memorial Fund has been established and memorials may be sent to the funeral home in Mike’s name.
