Hazel Green, Wisconsin Monica A. Houtakker, 93, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Southwest Health Center, Cuba City. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Hazel Green. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Casey Funeral Home, Cuba City, where a rosary will be recited at 3:15 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday. She was born on January 7, 1919 in rural Galena, IL, daughter of Joseph and Irene (Fleege) Heitkamp. She was united in marriage to Clarence Houtakker on September 27, 1939 in Menominee, IL. He preceded her in death. Monica was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church since 1939 and Council of Catholic Women. She very much enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Monica enjoyed visiting with friends, playing music and cards, and Notre Dame. She will be missed very much by friends and family. Surviving are her sons, Donald Houtakker of Belleville, MI and Kenneth (Sharon) Houtakker, of Lancaster, WI; 5 grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Houtakker of Verona, WI, Brian (Tammy) Houtakker of Asbury, IA, Marc Houtakker of Marshall, WI, Jay (Leah) Houtakker of Mineral Point, WI, and Melissa (Mark) Muench of Blanchardville, WI; 13 great-grandchildren, Hanna, Elli, Jacob, Nicole, Joseph, Andrew, Brady, Grace, Miles, Gavin, and Lilly Houtakker and Lauren and Brooklyn Muench; 2 brothers, Robert and James (LaVonne) Heitkamp of East Dubuque, IL; and sister, Germaine Robinson of Savannah, IL. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Ellen Berning; 2 brothers-in-law, Ed Berning and Hubert Robinson; sister-in-law, Margaret Heitkamp; and great-grandchild, Tyler Houtakker. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dave and Kris Hessling and to her neighbors for their help, friendship and kindness.
