Pamela J. Bartels, 67 of Platteville, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at UW Madison Hospital surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green, Wisconsin. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Gregory Ihm officiating. Burial will be held at Nativity BVM Cemetery in Menominee, Illinois. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City, Wisconsin is assisting the family.
Pam was born on September 14, 1957 in Dubuque, Iowa to Anthony “Tony” and Dorothy (Ahern) McDermott. Pam grew up in Menominee, Illinois. She married the love of her life, Bob Bartels, on September 15, 2001.
Pam was a dietician at Finley before completing her Nursing degree at NICC. She was a nurse for about 10 years until she became a Pastoral Caregiver at St. Dominic Villa in Sinsinawa, Wisconsin. She lovingly cared for the Dominican Sisters who resided there. She accompanied them to medical appointments, was a contact person for their families, and decorated the chapel for holidays and special occasions. Her favorite task was praying with and for the Sisters. Her hobbies included spending time at the Power of Prayer and St. Joseph Adoration Chapels, reading and crocheting. Spending time with family and friends was of the utmost importance to Pam. She was a very faithful servant and passionate about prayer.
Those left to honor her memory include her beloved husband, Bob Bartels; her mother, Dorothy McDermott; her siblings, Ron McDermott, Tammy (Jim) Goken, Linda (Jay) Peacock, Debbie Brehm, John McDermott, Shawn (Jenny) McDermott, Phil (Mia) McDermott, and Erin (Josh) Mulderink; her in-laws, John Bartels, Judy Babler and Bill Bartels; her Godchildren, Tony Less, Teresea Carroll, and Charlton Redman; many aunts and uncles, several nieces and nephews, many cousins, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends including Peg Carroll, Dennis Streif and Tina Hamel, Rose and Steve Meyer, Yong O’Connor, Kathleen Ryan, and Don and Kathy Wilhelm.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tony McDermott; many aunts, uncles and cousins; her nephew, JJ; great-nephews, Gabe and Shay; as well as many Dominican Sisters she grew to love. She was also preceded in death by in-laws, John and Ann Bartels, Irv and Connie Bartels, Gary Bartels, and Terry Babler.
Memorials in Pam’s name may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Carrie Bartels and Mary Kramer for being a source of comfort and support during this difficult time. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.
