Cuba City, Wisconsin Phyllis Ann "Phyl" Bartels, (Gleichner) 81, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in Hazel Green. Friends may call from 9-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Phyllis was born on June 19, 1931, the daughter of Edward J. and Marie (Kluesner) Bartels. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier High School in 1949 and Bosworth Business College in Chicago, Illinois. She was a member of the Community Theater at Loras College. Phyllis married Robert J. Gleichner in 1956. Through the years she participated in many church and civic affairs. Her greatest joys in life were her Faith, her large family, and helping others. Phyllis was one of fifteen children. Her father, Edward, was named the National Father of the Year in 1955 having twelve daughters and three sons. Survivors include her three children, Mark Gleichner, of Rochester, NH; Michele Klein (Gleichner), of Galena, IL, and Mara Gleichner: ten sisters, Rosemary Frericks, Kathleen Krapfl, Emily Bartels and Joan Bartels, all of Dyersville, IA, Doris (Bill) Crow, of Scales Mound, IL, Marlene (Steve) McAleer, of Monticello, IA, Patricia Bartels, of Elkhorn, WI, Joyce (Frank) Caruso, of Kenosha, WI, Bevlin Bartels, of Dubuque, IA, and Nancy (Burt) Fairchild, of Bloomington, MN; three brothers, William "Bill" Bartels and Dale (Helen) Bartels, both of Dyersville, IA, and John Bartels, of Moore, OK; nieces; nephews; and a wide circle of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Myrna Carty; two brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; two young nephews; and daughter in law. "I have longed to touch the Face of God." In lieu of flowers a Phyllis A. Bartels Memorial Fund has been established.
