Benton, Wisconsin Rebecca A. “Becky” Houtakker, 56, of Benton, Wisconsin, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Church in Benton with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Benton. Friends may also call from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home before the service. Becky was born on October 9, 1953, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, the daughter of LeRoy and Kay (Spillane) Lawrence. She married Phillip Houtakker on September 30, 2005, at Eagle Point Park in Dubuque. Becky was employed at the National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, Maryland for ten years, Brewster Liquor Store in Shullsburg for nine years and at National Propane Gas Company of Cuba City for nine years. Becky thoroughly enjoyed her most recent job at the Cuba City Nursing Home. Becky will be remembered for her love of gardening, sewing, crafts and interior decorating. She will also be missed for her quick wit and meticulous ways of doing things. Becky enjoyed doing projects with her loving husband Phil, spending time with her family, and absolutely treasured the time she had with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Phil, of Benton; a daughter, Sarah Burns, of Montello, Wisconsin; a son, Ashley (special friend, Jena) Lawrence, of Hazel Green; her stepmother, Cleo Lawrence, of Galena; her sisters, Linda Lawrence and Rhonda Wildes, both of Benton, Jackie (Jerry) Bennett, of Cuba City, and Mary Jo (Steve) Hoffmann, of Benton; her half-sisters, Tracy (Leon) Winkler, of Platteville, Kim (Frannie) Leibfried, of Cuba City, Renee (Paul) Winkler, of Platteville, Jodi (Joe) Klaas, of Hazel Green, and Erin (Tony) Isabell, of Platteville; several aunts and uncles; her grandchildren, her “little angels”, Remi and Lyla; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Kay and Frannie Bird; her father, LeRoy Lawrence; her nephew, Joel Hoffmann; and her grandparents. A Rebecca A. Houtakker Memorial Fund has been established. The family would like to thank the oncology nurses at Medical Associates, Dr. Schultheis, and Hospice of Dubuque for their continued dedication and compassion.
