Stoughton, Wisconsin Rev. Raymond E. Runde, 83, of Stoughton, Wisconsin, formerly of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Stoughton Hospital in Stoughton. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2013, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green with the Most Rev. Robert Morlino, Bishop of Madison, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Sinsinawa. Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 1:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30-11:15 a.m. Monday morning at the church before the funeral mass. Raymond was born on April 19, 1930, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of Martin C. and Mary A. (Cullen) Runde. After attending St. Joseph Grade School in Sinsinawa, Father Ray attended High School at Loras Academy in Dubuque, Iowa, where he completed his collegiate studies in Philosophy at Loras College. He continued his studies at The Catholic University of America where he obtained his S.T.L. in Theology followed by graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he earned his M.A., and studies at The Catholic University of America where he earned his Ph.D. He was ordained by Bishop William P. O’Connor on May 25, 1956 at St. Raphael Cathedral, Madison. Father Ray served the Diocese of Madison as Assistant Chaplain at St. Coletta School in Jefferson. He then served as Pastor at St. Mary of Lourdes Parish, Belleville with Mission of St. James Parish, Dayton, and St. Mary Help of Christians Parish, Briggsville. He served as faculty at St. Mary’s College, South Bend, Indiana and was involved in the counseling profession prior to his taking a medical leave of absence which led to his retirement. During his years of service to the Diocese of Madison, Father Ray served as a member of the Marriage Encounter Team for 14 yrs. Father Ray enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards weekly with his brother priests. He was sports fan and an avid White Sox fan. Father Ray loved to joke with his family, friends, nieces and nephews. Survivors include two brothers, Emmett "Smokey" (Doris) Runde and Eugene "Gene" (Shirley) Runde, both of Cuba City; and a sister, Myrtle (John) Blankheim, of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Roseann "Rosie" Runde; a sister and brother-in-law, Adele and Jack Budden; and a sister-in-law, Doris Runde.
