Hazel Green, Wisconsin Richard A. "Dick" Weber, 72, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at home after battling cancer for a year and a half. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green with Rev. Kenneth Frisch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors accorded. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church before the service. Dick was born on August 20, 1944, in Benton, Wisconsin, the son of Anton "Ed" and Anna Loretta (Johnson) Weber. Dick was in the seminary and served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He met Mary C. Otting at the race track in Darlington during stock car races. Later they were married on August 28, 1965, in Dubuque. Dick worked at Celetex, Farmland, FDL-Dubuque, Hypro, Weber's and retired from Badger Machine. He also filled his time at Hazel Green Auto Sales as a mechanic. Dick was a big NASCAR fan and raced cars for three years in Dubuque and Farley. He stayed involved for several years helping other racers. Dick was an inventor, tinker and handyman. He enjoyed building things from scratch like go-carts for his grandchildren and his little two-wheeler that he drove in parades. Dick was a member of the American Legion, Hazel Green Fire Department and a Boy Scout Leader. A favorite past time was hanging with his grandchildren and his best friends, Steve Symons, Don Loeffelholz and Gary Lowing. Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Sheila (Kent) Kitelinger, of Dodgeville and Jodie (David) Rukamp, of Germantown; two sons, Jeff (Michelle) Weber, of Platteville, and Scott Weber, of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Karissa (Austin) Henze, Jessica Kitelinger, Tyler and Derek Rukamp, Brittney and Brianna Smith, Jesse and Sydney Weber, and Danielle (Jon) Tiedt; six sisters, Alvina (Pat) Runde, of Madison, Betty Wedig, Agnes Weber and Dorothy Tranel, all of Cuba City, Sandra (Michael) Alt, of Marion, Iowa, and Carolyn (Roger) Fries, of Cuba City; and four brothers, Vernon (Myrt) Weber, Verdon (Linda) Weber, Homer Weber and Joe Weber, all of Cuba City. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Lawrence "Buddy"; a brother-in-law, Art Wedig; and three sisters-in-law, Jane, Denise and Jan. A Richard A. "Dick" Weber Memorial Fund has been established.
