Longmont, Colorado Richard K. "Dick" Sherwin, 71, of Longmont, Colorado, formerly of Platteville, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Longmont United Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer and two years of multiple complications. Memorial services will be Thursday, April 24, at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80504. Graveside services and burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Platteville at a later date. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is supplying local information. Dick was born on October 3, 1942, in Lancaster, Wisconsin, the son of Guerdon T. and L. Jeanette (Lee) Sherwin. He married Nancy R. Smith on January 24, 1963, at the First Methodist Church in Platteville. Dick graduated from Platteville High School in 1960. He worked in finance and banking for several years and was well known as a realtor for 40 plus years in the Longmont area. Survivors include his loving spouse of 51 years, Nancy; two sons, Tim Sherwin, of Longmont, and Robb (Anna) Sherwin, of Greeley Colorado; a grandson, Nick Sherwin, of Longmont; his mother, L. Jeanette Sherwin, at SWHC Nursing Home in Cuba City; two brothers, Jerry (Elaine) Sherwin, of Cuba City, Ken (Marge) Sherwin, of Richland Center; a brother-in-law, Jim (Nancy) Smith, of Morrison, Colorado; his nephews, Bradley (Tracey) Sherwin and their son, Connor, of Buckingham (Waterloo), Iowa, Scott Sherwin, of Richland Center, and Aaron Smith, of Denver, Colorado; his nieces, Kimberly (Mark) Gehrke, of Elburn, Illinois, and Kelly (Lewis) Fader, of Warrens, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his father, Guerdon T. Sherwin, on July 30, 1995; his father-in-law, Ray Smith, his mother-in-law, Jean Smith; and a brother-in-law, Larry Smith.
