Hazel Green, Wisconsin Roger F. Winkler, 58, of Hazel Green, formerly of Potosi, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Private family only services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Casey Funeral Home in Cuba City with Pastor Nelson Perkinson officiating. Friends may call from noon until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Roger was born on July 29, 1953, in Lancaster, Wisconsin, the son of Maynard and Modesta (Loeffelholz) Winkler Sr. He married Cris Ames on September 20, 1975, at St. Andrew’s Church in Tennyson. Roger loved fishing, boating and tubing with his grandchildren, riding ATV’s and spending time with his family. He most loved time spent with his grandchildren. Roger enjoyed going to garage sales with his daughter and going to car shows and swap meets. He was a great mechanic and loved his 1971 Buick Grand Sport and also his 1971 Sport Wagon. Roger had a great “gift of gab” and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Roger was a great spouse, dad, grandfather, son and brother. He will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Cris; a daughter, Arica (Richard) Schmidt, of Cuba City; a son, Arein (Paige) Winkler, of Potosi; his mother, Modesta Winkler, of Potosi; two sisters, Mary (Joe) Bendorf, of Wiota, Anna (Thad) Reuter, of Platteville; eight brothers, Carl (Wendy) Winkler, of Pueblo, Colorado, Maynard (Candi) Winkler Jr, of Potosi, Leon (Traci) Winkler, of Platteville, Gerard (Kari) Winkler, of LaCrosse, Paul (Renee) Winkler and John (Cyndi) Winkler, both of Platteville, Ron (Janet) Winkler, of DeForest, and James (Darlyn) Winkler, of Potosi; and seven grandchildren, Amber, Sydney, Melody, Seth, Madyson, Preston and Monica. He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Winkler Sr in 1995. In lieu of flowers, a Roger F. Winkler Memorial Fund has been established.
