Cuba City, Wisconsin Romona E. Hoppenjan, 95, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:15-10:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home before the service. Romona was born on July 16, 1920, in Grant County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Matthias and Anna (VanDeWiel) Bertjens. She married Bernard Hoppenjan on January 28, 1940, at St. Joseph's Church, Sinsinawa. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2005. Romona and Bernard farmed the beginning of their married life. She was a CNA at the Cuba City Hospital for 15 years and later cared for the elderly in their homes until she retired. Romona loved to play euchre and canasta with her friends and family. Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Gansen, of Cuba City, Charles (Darlene) Hoppenjan, of Cuba City, David (June) Hoppenjan, of Darlington, Nancy (Steve) Gollmer, of Freeport, IL, and Norma (Richard) Pedley, of Leadmine; ten grandchildren, Tim Voels, Randy Hoppenjan, Jennifer Pedley, Teri (James) Rupp, Daniel (Liz) Hoppenjan, Melissa (Jeff) Griffin, Emily Hoppenjan, Renee (Karl) Malik, Samantha Hoppenjan, and Nichole (Chris) Baucher; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; a sister, Irene Timmerman; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Bertjens. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Steve Hoppenjan; a granddaughter, Julie (Hoppenjan) (KC) Haldeman; a son-in-law, Leo Gansen; her sisters, Berniece Bertjens, Mary (Carl) Runde and Evelyn (Ervin) Northaus; and her brothers, Walter (Mercedes), Albertus, Francis (Marie), and Donald; and an infant sibling.
