Shullsburg, Wisconsin Ruth M. Topliss Houtakker Curran, 54, of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at St. Patrick's Church in Benton with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Benton where the parish rosary will be at 1:40 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the church before the service. Ruth was born on March 1, 1958, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph J. and Elizabeth (Hoelker) Topliss. She worked at Lafayette County Manor in Darlington where she was truly dedicated to her patients. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and she loved working with flowers. She was an avid Packer fan and she enjoyed playing sports and riding horses. Survivors include a daughter, Bridget (Tom Allbee) Curran, of Cuba City; a son, Kevin (Rick Lynch) Curran, of Cuba City; her mother, Elizabeth "Liz" Topliss, of Benton; her former husband, Kenny Houtakker, of Shullsburg; five sisters, Kathy (Tom) Mastin, of Masonville, Iowa, Betty (Joe) Beau, of Leadmine, Joann (Dick) Deckert, of Benton, Linda (Doug) Coy, of Cuba City, and Alice (Jerry) Eastman, of Berlin, Wisconsin; two brothers, Robert (Amy) Topliss, of Decatur, Alabama, and David (Cindy) Topliss, of Freeport, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Quinn and Seth. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, on July 25, 2000.
