Sinsinawa, Wisconsin Sister Alexis Searfoss OP, 93, died Sunday, October 30, 2016, at St. Dominic Villa. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016, at the Gathering Place Chapel, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:15 p.m Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Motherhouse where a wake and remembering service will be at 6:30 p.m. Sister Alexis devoted 48 years to elementary education. She taught for 25 years in the following schools: St. Patrick, Green Bay, St. James, Kenosha, and St. John Cathedral, Milwaukee, all in Wisconsin; SS. Faith, Hope and Charity, Winnetka, St. Thomas Moore, Chicago, and St. Mark, Peoria, all in Illinois. Sister Alexis served 33 years as principal and/or co principal/teacher in St. Rose, Cuba City, and Sacred Heart, Reedsburg, both in Wisconsin; St. Mary, East Dubuque, and St. Mark, Peoria, both in Illinois; and St. James, Ventnor, New Jersey, where Sister Alexis also served 11 years as pastoral minister. Sister Alexis enriched community life. Sister Alexis, born January 22, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Margaret (Sullivan) Searfoss, made her profession on August 5, 1943. She is survived by nieces, cousins, and the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa with whom she shared life for 73 years.
