Sr. Cecilia Davis, O.P.

Sister Cecilia (Elianne) Davis, OP, died at St. Dominic Villa on November 17, 2022. She was born September 20, 1940, to John and Edith (Vitt) Davis in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the seventh of nine children. Sister Cecilia is survived by Joan Hill and Frank Davis as well as nieces, nephews and her Dominican family. She was professed a Sinsinawa Dominican sister in 1960. She had bachelor and master’s degrees in philosophy and special education from Dominican University, River Forest, Illinois. Sister Cecilia taught and served in administration in Catholic elementary schools from 1960 to 1996 in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. She then moved to River Forest, Illinois, where she cared for a family member and volunteered until she moved to Sinsinawa; St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, Wisconsin; and St. Dominic Villa. Sister Cecilia had a good sense of humor, was engaging and will be remembered by some as an energetic bike rider. She was faithful to prayer. Ceil requested a natural burial.

Her services will be at Sinsinawa on November 30 and December 1, 2022.
