Sister Joann Feist, OP, died at St. Dominic Villa on December 6, 2022. Her funeral liturgy was held on December 17, 2022, at Sinsinawa. Joann was born at home to Anthony and Genevieve (Huber) Feist on July 22, 1934, in Bloomington, Illinois. She was the sixth of nine children. She is survived by a brother, Bill (Barb) Feist; a sister, Genevieve Feist; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican family.

Sister Joann was professed a Sinsinawa Dominican sister in 1954. She was sent to teach elementary or high school students in the following states: Wisconsin, Illinois, Montana, Nebraska, Alaska and Alabama. In 1990, Sister Joann began sharing her computer expertise in schools and learning centers mostly in the Chicago area. After a sabbatical, she worked with prisoners and in family ministry and tutored in Rockford, Illinois. Sister Joann retired to Sinsinawa in 2008. She offered volunteer services there and spent some time at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, Wisconsin. Sister Joann loved science and found God’s abundant presence everywhere in nature.
