Sr. Loretta Zemaitis, Op

Hazel Green, Wisconsin Sister Loretta Zemaitis, OP, died January 26, 2022, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin. She was born to Anton and Pearl (Kucharski) Zemaitis on May 5, 1922, in Chicago. She was the youngest of seven children. At the time of her birth, her oldest brother, Walter, was 24! Sister Loretta is survived by nieces, nephews and her Dominican family. In her long life, she taught in elementary schools in Wisconsin and Illinois; high schools in the District of Columbia, Illinois, Montana, Texas and Wyoming. Degrees in religious studies led Sister Loretta to ministry in RCIA, evangelization, social services, and administration in Washington, D. C.; South Carolina; Illinois; Wisconsin; and Florida. In 2001, Sister Loretta came to Sinsinawa and served as a pastoral minister. She was curious, often seeking to understand the mystery of God and listening to others as they searched for meaning. Services will be held at Sinsinawa. Loretta, go now into the mystery you have sought to understand forever.
