Hazel Green, Wisconsin

Sister Mary Pat Marcos, OP, died June 11, 2023, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin. She had a natural burial at Sinsinawa on June 13. A funeral liturgy will take place at a later date. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services is handling arrangements.

Patricia was born to Felix and Helen (Gbur) Zambriski on August 20, 1918, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. There were 12 children. With Sister Mary Pat’s death, all are united now in the communion of saints. Many nieces and nephews plus her Sinsinawa Dominican family survive.

At 18, Patricia enlisted in the military. After training, she was enlisted in the Air Force. During World War II, she rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. She was trained in radio repair on B-52 bombers. At the Pentagon, she transcribed messages for the government. She was often honored as a member of the California Veterans Association.

At the age of 46, Patricia joined the Sinsinawa Dominicans. She received the name Sister Mary Marcos. Later she legally changed her name to Mary Pat Marcos. She died last week at the age of 104. She served in the following states: Illinois, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Texas, California and Washington. Sister Mary Pat brought her skill set and education to ministries in business affairs, elementary education, teaching art in high schools, and social services to a general population of underserved people.

Rest now, Mary Pat. Rest in God’s embrace.
