Sr. Suzanne Schuman, Op

Sinsinawa, Wisconsin Suzanne Schuman, OP Sister Suzanne Schuman, OP, died March 23, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville, Wisconsin. She was born to Ernest and Marie (Witowski) Schuman on November 30, 1929, in Chicago. She was given the name Doris. She was the oldest of three daughters. She is survived by her two sisters, Marian Mullen and Fran Clausius; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican family. Doris received the name Sister Suzanne on February 2, 1949, at Sinsinawa. For 58 years, she dedicated herself to elementary education as a teacher or principal in Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Alabama, California, Iowa and Illinois. From 1983 to 2008, she served full time at St. Barnabas in Chicago. Sister Suzanne continued to serve as a volunteer there until 2020 when she came to Sinsinawa and then to Footville, Wisconsin. She was a warm, friendly and kind woman. Many would say about her, “She was ‘Sister Hospitality’”. Funeral services for Sister Suzanne will be April 1-2, 2022 at Sinsinawa. Suzanne, may you be with the living God.
