Sister Therese (Michaelita) Maher, O.P., died May 27, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, Wisconsin. Her remembering will be at Sinsinawa on Thursday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m. and funeral on Friday, June 2 at 10:30 a.m.

Therese Marie was born July 27, 1929, to Michael and Marie (Jacobs) Maher in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the second of five children. She is survived by Marianne Houch, Michael Maher, other family members and her Sinsinawa community. After two years of training, she began a long career at the secondary level in home economics and counseling. She ministered in the following states: Wisconsin, South Dakota, Montana, Texas, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Georgia, and Washington. Sister Therese was committed, in her later years, to offering emergency services to the elderly. She reached out in faith to those around her.
