Dubuque, Iowa Sister Virginia Freilinger OSF, 88, of Dubuque, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Clare House in Dubuque. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2011, at Francis Chapel at Mt. St. Francis in Dubuque. Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Francis Chapel where the wake service will be at 7:00 p.m. Sister Virginia was born on February 19, 1923, on the family farm near Livermore, Iowa, the daughter of John B. and Susie (Meyerhofer) Freilinger. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on August 25, 1944, and made her final profession of vows on August 12, 1950. Sister ministered as a teacher in the Iowa cities of Remsen, Granville, LaMotte, Pocahontas, Roseville, St. Catherine, Guttenberg, and Earlville. Survivors include her brother, Alfred Freilinger, of Humboldt; her sister, Alvina (Irvin) Kenne, of Algona; nieces; nephews; and her Franciscan sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Irene Freilinger. Memorials may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis in Dubuque, Iowa.
