Teresa M. Murphy

June 13, 1969 — October 22, 2024

Cuba City, Wisconsin

Angels come in many forms. One of them, Teresa Marie Murphy, earned her heavenly wings on October 22, 2024, at St Mary's Care Center, Madison, Wisconsin, surrounded by loving family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cuba City, Wisconsin, officiated by Father David Flanagan. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.

Teresa, the youngest child of Tom and Marcella “Marcie” (Eisele) Murphy, was born on June 13, 1969. She graduated from Cuba City High School in 1990. She then worked at Cuba City High School in the cafeteria, Mazzuchelli Citizens, Little Lambs Day Care, and later at a day care in McFarland while living with her sister, Joan. She participated for many years in Special Olympics in Cuba City, which provided her many hours of fun, friendship, and life lessons. She was an avid Cuba City sports and Packer fan and proudly wore her team colors when she was not wearing her favorite color, purple. She loved watching the "Brady Bunch", playing games, singing and dancing. She also loved eating out and socializing, and many good times with her were had at the Elmo Club!

Teresa, above all, loved her family, her birthday, and holidays. Teresa taught us all the joy of the simple things in life and living each day to the fullest. She touched the hearts of all who met her and taught us all what unconditional love really is.

Those left to honor Teresa's memory are her siblings, Pat (Jay) Leibold Cherry, Maquoketa, IA, Mike (Linda) Murphy, Cuba City, WI, Dave (Laurie) Murphy, Beloit, WI, Tim (Kathy) Murphy, Platteville, WI, John (Diane) Murphy, Saddlebrook, AZ, and Joan Moffatt, McFarland, WI; a brother-in-law, Terry Hollander, Bagley, WI; as well as many nieces and great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Her cousins Pat and Tom Newberry and families, and Deb Schuppener also held a special place in her heart.

Those who preceded her in death include her parents, Tom and Marcie; a sister, Kathy Hollander; a brother-in-law, Jim Leibold; a nephew, Brett Leibold; and a great-niece, Kailee Kunkel.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to SSM Hospice of Madison, especially Polly; the staff of St. Mary's Care Center; the coaches and mentors of Special Olympics of Cuba City; and all those in Cuba City who embraced and watched out after Teresa much of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Teresa’s name be given to Cuba City Special Olympics or SSM Health at Home Hospice at 1808 W. Beltline Hwy., Madison, WI 53713. Memorials may also be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
