Tom was born on March 21, 1935, in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Millicent (Corning) Calvert. He married Chelle Albertson at their cottage near Hayward, Wisconsin, in July of 1984. He spent his formative years on the family farm near Benton. He attended Benton Grade School, Cuba City High School, UW-River Falls, UW-Platteville and UW-Madison. Tom taught agriculture in Princeton, Wisconsin, before becoming a Division Manager for Walnut Grove Products/Cargill where he was employed for 37 years in Wisconsin and South Dakota. Following his retirement from Walnut Grove/Cargill he worked for Midwest Livestock/Akey Feeds for a short time before returning to the acreage on the home farm near Benton. He taught agriculture at Southwestern High School for four years and for one year at Benton High School. He enjoyed substitute teaching in various schools until the onset of his illness. Tom was actively involved in his church, both the Methodist Church of his youth and the Lutheran Church as an adult. Tom enjoyed singing and was a soloist at weddings, funerals and social gatherings as well as singing in the church choirs for 50 plus years. Tom was very proud of being an Eagle Scout, and was active in 4H and FFA. Tom is survived by his wife and best friend, Chelle; his children, Carolyn ( Todd) Madaus, of Marshall, Wisconsin, Damon Calvert, of Madison, Wisconsin, and Gail (Chris) Goehrig, of Stoughton, Wisconsin; three stepchildren, Kim (Bill) Genthner, of Freeport, Illinois, Kevan (Brenda) Klubertanz, of New Richland Hills, Texas, and Keri Hanson, of Madison, Wisconsin; two sisters, Ellie Shacter, of San Diego, California, and Marvel (Dusty) Rhoades, of Pioneer, California; a brother, Wally Calvert, of Las Vegas, Nevada; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Millicent Calvert.
