Dubuque, Iowa Vayda M. Redfern, 90, of Dubuque, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City, Wisconsin. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Shawnee Cemetery in New Diggings, Wisconsin. According to Vayda's wishes there will be no visitation. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Vayda was born on July 18, 1927, in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, the daughter of Raymond and Leona (Temperly) Miller. She married Gene Redfern on June 28, 1949. Vayda graduated from Southwestern High School and received her B.S. and M.S. Degrees from UW- Platteville. She taught for 33 years, mainly in the Benton Elementary School. Her enjoyments were reading, big-band music, live theatre, good jokes and the movies. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Gene, of Dubuque; a brother, Harold (Margaret Ann) Miller, and two nephews, Bruce (Cathy) and Marty Miller, all of Hazel Green. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray "Smitty" and Leona (Temperly) Miller; two sons, Mitchell and Keven, and a brother, Fred (Joyce Ann) Miller.
