Cuba City, Wisconsin Vera C. Redfern Harris, 89, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, formerly of Platteville, Benton, and New Diggings, died Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Benton with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She will be lovingly carried to her final resting place in St. Patrick's Cemetery by five of her grandchildren. Friends may call from 9-10:45 a.m. at the church before the service. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Benton is in charge of arrangements. Vera was born on February 16, 1926, in Galena, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Wienen) Heim. She married Eldren "Danny" Redfern on September 21, 1944, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Galena. Danny preceded her in death on July 3, 1979. She married Morris "Morrie" Harris of New Diggings on September 25, 1982. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1991. Vera was a homemaker in the early years and became the New Diggings Grade School cook for three years prior to the closing of the school. She became a group leader at Micro Switch in Warren, Illinois, for eight years, and worked as an inspector at Eaton Corporation in Warren for 14 years until her retirement. After retirement she enjoyed her family, playing cards, embroidery, gardening, baking, doing crossword puzzles and dancing. Vera had a good life and was well blessed with friends and family. She has been a long time member of St. Patrick's Altar Society and the VFW Auxiliary. Vera was loved and will be missed by her loved ones and friends. Survivors include her son, Gary Redfern, of Cuba City; her daughter, Sandra (John) Aurit, of Galena; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Viola Roling; and a former daughter-in-law, Vicki. Vera was also preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers, and three sisters. A Vera C. Harris Memorial Fund has been established.
