Viola R. Farrey

Hazel Green, Wisconsin Viola R. Farrey, 88, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, in Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Hazel Green with Rev. Kenneth Frisch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Monday at the church before the service. Viola was born on August 17, 1928, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Errthum) Freiburger. She married Paul Farrey on October 4, 1952, at St. Patrick's Church in Dubuque. Vi loved to sing and many enjoyed her unique gift of yodeling. Giving to and helping others was important to her as she gave food to the food pantry and served for nine years as the bloodmobile coordinator. She was a member of the Hazel Green American Legion Auxiliary and served at various times as the president. Her BIG green thumb was evident in her garden and flowers. Vi wanted everyone to know that "she loved everyone." Survivors include her husband, Paul; three daughters, Barbara (Douglas) Eagle, of San Diego, CA, Lynn (Randy) Skemp, of Dubuque, and Paula (Roger) Nansel, of Lake Charles, LA; two sons, John Farrey, of Mansfield, TX, and Michael (Katherin) Farrey, of Walworth, WI; her grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Kristi, Brenda, Karissa, Jared, Rachel and Logan; her great-grandchildren, Rory, Lucas, Wyatt and Linkoln; four sisters, Frances Hendricks, of Hazel Green, Lillian (Wilmer) Averkamp, of Menominee, IL, Irma Massey, of Dubuque, and Carol (Dan) McDermott, of Louisburg; a brother, Larry (Ellen) Freiburger, of East Dubuque, IL.; and her in-laws, Mary Freiburger, of Benton, Mame Freiburger, of Cuba City, Eileen Freiburger, of East Dubuque, IL; and Bob Gerhard, of Bellevue, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Stella Majerus and Florence Gerhard; and four brothers, Frankie, Henry, Eddie and Elmer Freiburger. A beautiful garden now stands alone, missing the one who nurtured it But now she is gone, Her flowers still bloom, and the sun it still shines, But the rain is like tear drops, for the ones left behind, The weeds lay waiting to take the gardens beauty away, But the beautiful memories of its keeper are in our hearts to stay, she loved every flower even some that were weeds, So much love she would plant with each little seed, But just like her flowers she was part of Gods plan, So when it was her time he reached down his hand, He looked through the Garden searching for the best, That's when he found Vi, it was her time to rest, It was hard for those who loved her, to just let her go, But God had a spot in his garden, that needed a gentle soul, So when you start missing Vi, remember if you just wait, When God has a spot in his garden, She'll meet you at the gate....
