Violet M. Runde

Cuba City, Wisconsin Violet M. “Vi” Runde, 91, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2011, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City with Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City where the parish wake service will be at 3:45 p.m. Vi was born on February 12, 1920 in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the daughter of George and Bernice (Byrne) Hoppenjan. She married Donald Runde on June 23, 1945, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2004. Prior to working at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home for 20 years Vi was a stay at home mom. Vi loved to bake bread and cinnamon rolls for everyone. Sunday was her favorite day. On Sunday she looked forward to preparing lunch for her family. Survivors include three daughters, Donna (Dwight) Eggers and Diane Kiley, both of Cuba City, and Mary Kay (Reuben) Von Glahn, of Belmont; four sons, Tim (Candy) Runde, Ted (Mary) Runde, Bill (Joan) Runde, and Roger (Meryl) Runde, all of Cuba City; a daughter-in-law, June Runde, of Cuba City; a sister, Kay Ulrich, of San Pedro, California: 23 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Stan; an infant daughter, Dawn; two brothers; Paul and Myron Hoppenjan and a sister; Helen Timmerman. The family would like to give a special thanks to Joan, her daughter-in-law, for the care and compassion she gave Mom. Also thanks to Kathy Krause, Karen Stoffel and all the nurses and doctors at Mercy Health Center for going above and beyond with the care that Mom received.
