William W. Wedig

Monroe Center, Illinois William W. "Bill" Wedig, 84, of Monroe Center, Illinois, formerly of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at home. Services will be 12:00 noon Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Cuba City where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Rev. David Flanagan will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is in charge of arrangements. Bill was born on October 20, 1928, in Gratiot, Wisconsin, the son of Richard and Mary Ann (Hoppenjon) Wedig. He married Mary J. "Jan" Ware on May 2, 1950. She preceded him in death. Bill loved to farm and tinker. He enjoyed gardening and canning. Bill was a devout Catholic. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Powers Wedig, of Rockford, IL; four sons, David, of Rochelle, IL, Matthew (Linda) Wedig, of Stillman Valley, IL, Louis Wedig, of Rochelle, IL, and Carl (Jill) Wedig, of Cherry Valley, IL; five sisters, Geraldine McCarville, of Beloit, WI, Louise (Don) Westburg, Ellen Wedig and Bonnie Wedig, all of Madison, WI, and Mary (Les) Schultz, of Ponca, OK; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Kevin, and an infant son, Joel; a sister, Betty Smith; and three brothers, Keith, Art and James. Memorials may be given to St. Rose of Lima School, 218 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
