Yvonne "Bonnie" Bird

Yvonne M. “Bonnie” Bird, 87, of East Dubuque, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dickeyville, Wisconsin, with Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. There will be no public visitation. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.

Bonnie was born on August 19, 1936 in Kieler, Wisconsin, to Ervin “Scoop” and Frances (Wallenhorst) Wiederholt. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Dubuque, Iowa. Bonnie was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Bird on June 7, 1958 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2021.

Bonnie worked in banking for over 40 years, both in East Dubuque and then Reno, Nevada. Her faith was very important to her. Above all, Bonnie cherished time spent with her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and also loved gathering with her siblings whenever possible. Bonnie enjoyed playing euchre and doing puzzles with her friends at Ahva Living in East Dubuque.

Bonnie is survived by her three sons, Randy (Kim) Bird, Reno, NV, Tom (LeeAnn) Bird, Cuba City, WI, and Jimmy (Diane) Bird, Sparks, NV; her siblings, Arlene (Tom) Schultz, Kieler, WI, Dave (Shirley) Wiederholt, Cassville, WI, Danny (Pam) Wiederholt, Long Grove, IA, Donna Tinkham, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Doris (Bill) Barnes, Dubuque, IA; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

The family would like to thank the staff of MercyOne Dubuque and Hospice of Dubuque for their compassionate care. The family is tremendously grateful to the staff and residents of Ahva Living for the care and friendship given to Bonnie.
